Curse of Castle Ravenstein

Curse of Castle Ravenstein I have all the decks and this is a good line of products, but one thing I would really like to see added to the decks is a card with a backstory on it. It would be nice to have a bit more story to go with the adventure.

The GameMaster's Apprentice: Demon Hunters
by Christopher H.
Publisher: Larcenous Designs, LLC

The GameMaster's Apprentice: Demon Hunters I love the base deck - and have been using it for nearly 2 years. I wanted to get the other decks with unique randomizers - so I picked up the Demon Hunters deck for the source material and specialities. The only real downside to the supplemental decks is the repetition with the base deck - these all feel adjusted from the base deck rather than truly different. Not too much of a problem if you use the decks independently, but it does mean there's only limited utility in mashing them together. It's still the GMA at heart, it's still wonderful for inspiration or as a tool in the toolbox to help bring in randomized elements or even to drive a whole game from just the cards. I have used these for a couple of one off games - it's so easy to get the outline of an NPC or to quickly get a hook to build a scene off of. I love the decks, and the minor quibble above does not prevent this from being perfectly useable....

Lucid Base Game

Lucid Base Game Only played the Core game so far, but it worked very well. The game itself flowed quickly and the rules were pretty easily explained. I had no problems with the game, but I will caution buyers that you *do* need at least two types of tokens, along with some way to indicate first player. These things are not included. It's not hard to go grab tokens, it can be as simple as grabbing a deck of cards and using them. Overall clarity and printing quality was perfectly fine, no issues there.

OBSCURE BATTLES 2 - COLD WAR - A MODULAR BOARDGAME FOR TACTICAL SCALE ENGAGEMENTS IN 1947-1995 PERIOD

OBSCURE BATTLES 2 - COLD WAR - A MODULAR BOARDGAME FOR TACTICAL SCALE ENGAGEMENTS IN 1947-1995 PERIOD This is a Coldwar battle construction set ... You can set up any battle with engineer unit, irregulars, regular army air air units , off-map artillery etc. All included with simple rules. Interesting PnP hex based game. Bought this a year ago and it is actually a fun to play game given the immense dept of vehicle inventory - u can just create any scenario u fancy and have a go at it. I tried Bush wars in Africa with French Planes and Chinese tanks to some what-ifs of Middleastern scenarios with some hypothetical equipment. It is a fast player, too. U just print the maps and play OR u can drawm your own map using the hex map sheets and then play on it. My Favorite is the A3 sized sheets. Time to start playing is less then 5 mins with such a scenario. No lengthy setup or such. On the negative side, maybe there are too much units - who cares for X variations of M48 or F4U Corsair but maybe some do... These people must have had a lot of time on their hands. Amazing value for money...

Dungeon Deck

Dungeon Deck This deck is very high quality and works really well for generating dungeon chambers on the fly. I do wish that there was more decoration and flavor to some of the chambers as well as an entrance and exit/stairs card, or maybe including something else more game-relevant in the space used for the playing card icons. If there was an expansion deck that added more and more varied rooms I would definitely look into purchasing it.

PULP TAROT: PENULTIMATE EXPANSION

PULP TAROT: PENULTIMATE EXPANSION There are gems in every one of the expansion packs. I especially love the new variants for Judgement and the Two of Cups. The Jack of Eggs is also a favorite. I'm glad there will be (at least) one more expansion (probably the Suit of Tentacles). Of course, I'd welcome additional variant decks, should Mr. Simmans get additional ideas in the future. It's fun to refresh the base deck by swapping out a few cards from time to time.

The Compleat Windrow-Ravenswood Deck

The Compleat Windrow-Ravenswood Deck I was worried when I sat down with the deck, and prepared to claim it. For a moment I thought the claiming would fail, and I would not succeed, and the deck would be unbound and wild, but...the tide of fate turned, and I was able to bring it under my control. It grumbles at me, but--so far--it is tentatively accepting of the leash. Impeccably designed, gloriously colored, with phenomenal artwork and cards that occasionally sear neurons. Heavy cardstsock and, while narrower than many decks, still possible to shuffle fairly easily. Highly recommended....

Saloon Fate Deck Love the subdued sepia finish on these, it's very easy on the eyes. The art of the ladies of Malifaux on the severes is a wonderful bonus (even with that voluptuous Black Joker). Quality-wise, they've held up perfectly in sleeves and while being worked with via shuffling, flipping, snapping, etc. Great product!

Curse of Castle Ravenstein Great theme and another unique victory condition make this another great adventure! Playing with the cards is a real treat - the printed oversized cards are very nice, drawing for each results of room type, contents, etc. I really like this style of artwork as well. Slight update to the Magic Treasure cards is nice "If you already have this, roll on the 4AD magic treasure table instead." I be applying that to all of these dungeons from here on out. For this set I would not reommend adding in extra Bosses - you will want to meet these guys. And they go away from the deck so at that point you could sub in a card or three... Also note that the bosses scale along with Highest Character Level to make sure you have enough challenge. My level 2 characters made is out a little beat up and mostly leveled up to 3....

Forest of the Spider Queen

Forest of the Spider Queen Just played through this with new characters and here are my impressions: - The first printed cards I have gotten from DTRPG and the quality is very nice - the oversized cards are a real treat! Not sure what I'm going to store them in yet though. - The goal for this adventure is quite different, carve a path to all four edges of the map, which makes for a nice change and forces you to travel a bit. For an extra challenge, don't allow these paths to be within 4 squares from the corners of the map - that'll prevent you from bee-lining to the corners. - Generating all room content from cards is very elagent. I drew a card for each element until the stack was empty, then reshuffled. Makes me want a crazy full 36 card deck to play the base game with! (Note: Alexy just came out with a Monsters Deck in the time it took me to get this order, it for sure will be in my next physical order...) I did add the two Boss Monster cards to the mix but they didn't show up this game...
